Office of the Deputy Prime Minister – this is the government department with the main responsibility for planning. On the site you can find current national and regional planning guidance and information on planning legislation
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs – this government department has responsibility for a wide range of environmental matters including environmental protection, farming and rural development. -
Department for Culture, Media and Sport – the government department for matters relating to the historic environment including listed buildings and archaeology. -
Department for Transport – the government department for transport matters including roads and public transport. -
Office for National Statistics – this is the government’s official statistics site and contains a huge amount of data from national down to local level and covering social, environmental and economic data and census material. -
Government Office for the South East - represents central government in the South East. GOSE works to influence contract and develop government programmes and initiatives at a regional and local level, by working in partnership with relevant organisations to meet local needs. -
South East England Development Agency - established by the Government to take the strategic lead in promoting the sustainable economic development of the region. -
Surrey County Council – responsible for the Surrey Structure Plan, minerals and waste planning and highways. -
Environment Agency - the leading public body responsible for protecting and improving the environment. -
English Heritage – responsible for making sure that the historic environment of England is properly maintained and cared for from the first traces of civilisation, to the most significant buildings of the 20th century. -
UK Government Sustainable Development Site - reports on progress by the United Kingdom as a whole towards sustainable development. -
The Planning Inspectorate – responsible for the processing of planning and enforcement appeals and holding inquiries into local development plans. We also deal with a wide variety of other planning related casework including listed building consent appeals, advertisement appeals, and reporting on planning applications. -
Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) - an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. It seeks to achieve improved standards in the design of buildings and spaces. -
The Highways Agency - an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT) responsible for operating, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in England on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport. -
English Nature - a Government funded body whose purpose is to promote the conservation of England's wildlife and natural features. -
Surrey Wildlife Trust - work to protect wildlife for the future and advise on nature conservation matters within Surrey. One of 47 independent trusts and more than 100 urban wildlife groups across the country. -
