Impact assessment is the application of a group of procedures to ensure that the implications of any decisions are taken into account before the decisions are made. Runnymede Borough Council uses these procedures to consider its own and other impacts on the sustainable development objectives of the Borough. Sustainable development is commonly defined by what has become known as the Brundtland Report definition: 'Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own need'. This Website follows the stages of the SA/SEA process , the different levels of which can be viewed to the left.
