PROPERTY SERVICES

This section provides professional valuation and property services in all matters concerning the Council's interests in and dealings with land, and advises on the use of its property assets. It is responsible for maintenance of the central property records, including the asset register which is becoming accepted practice amongst local authorities.

Advice Upwards Icon Select another Task

The section advises the Council and/or top management as required on property dealings, the effective use and management of all its non-operational property, and the property portfolio generally. It reviews the portfolio at regular intervals.

Dealings with Property Upwards Icon Select another Task

The section is the prime point of contact and the co-ordinator of dealings with property interests. The Valuer to the Council will negotiate terms with third parties or secure that this is done. He is also the contact point for tenants of leased property on matters concerning their leases, and for property enquiries generally.

The section carries responsibility (in some cases with other officers) for co-ordinating non-operational property management tasks such as rent review, repairing and other obligations, insurance etc and the provision of necessary information to various parts of the organisation.

Records Upwards Icon Select another Task

The section maintains the central property records, and will implement and maintain the new asset register. The asset register is to provide comprehensive information to enable authorities to manage their property effectively.
