| Licences for Lotteries Organisations with a (head) office address in the Runnymede Borough who wish to hold raffles or lotteries, must be registered with Runnymede Borough Council, under the Lotteries and Amusements Act 1976 (as amended). The following exemptions apply :- Private lotteries are only open to people who are members of the same
club, society etc, or work or live on the same premises. For example;
employees of a company (but not their families or friends), or members
of a PTA (but not other parents of children attending the school). Small Lotteries incidental to an exempt entertainment These types of lotteries can only take place in the course of an event which is considered ‘exempt’; for example; a village fete, disco or dinner. People attend the event rather than the raffle/lottery. There are regulations for small lotteries with regard to the selling of tickets and publicising of and conducting the lottery. For more information please download our guide to lottery applicants. If you decide your lottery does not meet the above definitions then you will need to apply for a lottery licence. Registration Requirements for a Lottery Licence Organisations eligible for registration must be raising funds for one or more of the following :- • charitable purposes; The statutory registration fee for a lottery licence is £35.00 then an annual renewal fee of £17.50 is due every 1st January regardless of when the original licence was taken out.
