A Breath of Fresh Air

Do you have an environmental project that needs funding?

AIR - The Association for the Improvement of Runnymede was established in 2000 to help environmental projects of all sorts obtain funding, primarily through the Government's Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. The association operates throughout the Borough of Runnymede.

The Landfill Tax Credit Scheme offers grants from a couple of hundred to thousands of pounds, however the application process for grants can be slow and time consuming. AIR acts as a facilitator/administrator in securing grants and ensuring all the necessary guidelines are adhered to.

Since its inception AIR has successfully obtained grant aid for 4 projects, and have a further 17 approved schemes that have gone forward to Landfill Operators requesting funding. There are a further 40 projects currently going through the application process. Successful projects include:

  • Repairs to the Lychgate and provision of disabled access, Holy Trinity Church, Lyne
  • Installation of a sound and loop system, St Peter's Shared Church, Chertsey
  • English species hedgerow project, St. Anne's School, Chertsey
  • Play equipment for Virginia Water Community Pre-School
  • Picnic area at Frank Muir Memorial Field, Thorpe
  • Flood alleviation work at Gogmore Farm Park, Chertsey
