CHERTSEY FILM SOCIETY |
|
Chertsey Film Society was formed in 1980 and is run by a hard working committee of capable volunteers. Originally the films were 16mm gauge versions of the 35mm prints used by cinemas. In recent years digital technology has taken over to the extent that most of the films we show come as DVDs. We project the films using our own DVD projector. The picture produced
rivals many cinemas in terms of size and the sound equipment at the venue
gives excellent results. Chertsey Film Society in the Chertsey Hall is
the nearest thing to a cinema in the Borough of Runnymede. All the films are shown at the Chertsey Hall which is conveniently situated in Heriot Road with plenty of free parking opposite. The atmosphere is friendly; refreshments are available before the show and during the intermission, giving opportunities to socialise . However, this is not essential: the important thing is our members' enjoyment of the films. Click here for a pdf of our 2006/07 leaflet giving details of the current season's programme. Membership of the society is on an annual basis. Once the subscription of £37 has been paid all twelve films can be seen at no further charge. This means that the average cost per film is very reasonable compared with the commercial cinemas in the area. There are concessionary rates for students, OAPs and UB40s and further reductions for double memberships. Entry is available to guests at £4.50 each. This is refundable against the subscription if the visit results in a new membership. For contractural reasons relating to the hire of both the film and the hall the public are not allowed into the film shows. For more information and full details of membership and guest admission please ring Angela or John on 01932 563125. Also please ring if you would like a complimentary copy of our high quality programme which gives fuller details of all the films.
