| 1) |
NAME
The name shall be Runnymede Access Liaison Group (hereafter called
the 'Access Group'). |
| 2) |
AIMS
The aims of the 'Access Group' shall be to consider the access needs
of disabled people in Runnymede and: |
| |
i) |
To assess those needs and to advise the Borough Council
how best to address them. |
| |
ii) |
To offer advice to the Borough Council and other organisations
on the means of improving existing and the provision of new facilities. |
| |
iii) |
To provide the Borough Council and other organisations
with a body of opinion reflecting the views of disabled people. |
| |
iv) |
To assist with the dissemination of information and
encourage the use of available facilities. |
| |
v) |
To promote a dialogue between disabled people and the
Borough Council, County Council, Area Health Authority and other bodies
representing the interests of disabled people. |
| 3) |
MEMBERSHIP
The Membership of the 'Access Group' shall be open to individuals,
organisations, groups and community associations, representing disabled
people or wishing to co-operate in achieving all the objectives
in the 'Access Group'.

The Access Group shall consist of : |

a) |
Two councillors from Runnymede Borough Council and also
those Councillors appointed by council to attend the Surrey Access
Forum. |

b) |
Individuals representing the following
impairments:

visually impaired
hearing impaired
wheelchair users
ambulant disabled
elderly disabled
learning dificulties
mental heath difficulties |

One representative from the following organisations:

| 4) |
MEETINGS AND OFFICERS
The 'Access Group' shall apoint annually from 1 May:

a Chairman
a Vice-Chairman
a Secretary

| 5) |
SUB-COMMITTEES AND WORKING
PARTIES
The 'Access Group' shall have the power to appoint Sub-Committees
or working Parties as and when necessary,
the members of which may include advisors who are not necessarily
members of the 'Access Group'. |
